In agreeing to do this film, Elvis' manager Colonel Tom Parker was hoping to replicate the success of Presley's 1961 film, Blue Hawaii. Having a girl on every island is a good way to get business but it becomes clear that romance and flying don't always mix. Rick Richards is a helicopter pilot who wants to set up a charter flying service in Hawaii -- along the way he makes some friends, including a young Hawaiian girl and her father, romances Judy Hudson, and sings a few songs.
