On 29 November 2019, Pink Floyd Records will release ‘Pink Floyd The Later Years’, an 18-disc set (5xCDs, 6xBlu-Rays, 5xDVDs, 2x7” plus exclusive photo book and memorabilia) covering the material created by David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Richard Wright from 1987 onwards. The outfit featured on The Later Years is not exactly the one that produced megahits like 1973’s Dark Side of the Moon and 1979’s The Wall.On the latter album, the group sings, “We don’t need no education.” Here, they seem to be chanting, “We don’t need no Roger Waters,” as all of the featured material was performed after he left the band at the end of 1985. The Later Years 1987-2019 is an explicit sequel to The Early Years 1965-1972, the 2016 box set that rounded up nearly all the loose ends and detours from the first era of Pink Floyd, the fearless period when they were figuring out what the band could do.
